  • Are you Entrepreneurial?
  • Do you work very well with other people?
  • Is your educational background in business?
  • Have you ever owned your own business?
  • Do you have knowledge or experience in all aspects of business?

A Business Intermediary’s primary responsibility is to assist business owners in the sale or merger of their business.  In order to achieve this end, you’ll need to rely heavily on your skills as a business-person.  From sales, prospecting, accounting, financial analysis, marketing, negotiating, to closing, a successful Intermediary does it all.

A career as a Business Intermediary can be one of the most rewarding career paths available.  It offers you the opportunity to be entrepreneurial while walking Business Owner’s through a life-changing event.

A solid educational background and/or businesses ownership experience are a good foundation for starting a new career as an intermediary.  Patience and the ability to deal with different personalities during stressful times are keys to success in this profession.

Business Intermediaries are paid a commission only when they sell a business.  In most cases, you will need the personal and financial resources to support yourself for one to two years.  This does not mean that you can’t start to close deals within the first six months, but realistically it can be difficult to make a substantial amount during your first year in the profession.   The great thing is once you start selling businesses, your efforts can be greatly rewarded.
